HISTORICAL ASPECTS AND PROSPECTS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF GOAT BREEDING IN UKRAINE

Abstract

The article analyzes the stages of goat breeding development, the current state, and prospects of its development
in Ukraine and the world. The main directions of the development, monitoring the efficiency of
farms for the production of goat milk, and solving practical problems of reviving the goat breeding industry
have been presented. The technological peculiarities of the work on the farms, which specialize in the production
of environmentally friendly products, have been presented. The monitoring of the main technological
systems and parameters was conducted concerning the growing and using of goats at the private enterprise
“Babyni Kozy”, which is located in the village Halaiky of Tetiiv district, Kyiv region and the family farm
“Sikorska” of Zinkiv district, Poltava region, where 30 female goats of the Saanen breed are kept, and which
ensure quite efficient milk production. It has been established that in the modern branch of agro-industrial
production, the issue of obtaining high-quality ecological food products, as well as expanding the range of
livestock products, is relevant. At the same time, in order to increase the production volumes and quality of
goat milk, it is important to work with the breeding herd, create highly productive lines and families that will
contribute to obtaining animals of different biological and economically useful characteristics. In order to
improve the quality of the selection and accelerate the formation of the goat breeding industry at the present
stage of using the advanced technologies for keeping animals and deep processing of raw materials, it is expedient
to create an association of dairy goat breeding in Ukraine with a scientific center and international
relations on the basis of farm-type formations in rural areas. It is maintained that in goat breeding, the highvalue
products with a high level of biological value can be received at the lowest cost.
